    The elephant-back ordination is an annual event in the calendar of the Kui people, an ethnic minority in Surin Province. It is a local tradition worth being listed or preserved as our national heritage. On Visakha Puja Day, an important Buddhist anniversary commemorating the birth, enlightenment and passing of the Buddha, which falls on 28 May this year, the Kui will hold their annual Buddhist ordination ceremony at Ta Klang Elephant Village.
